So it would appear out with Henry Cavill, in with Michael B. Jordan?
In the wake of reports that Henry Cavill is now out as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, there comes a new, interesting rumor: “Black Panther” and “Creed II” star Michael B. Jordan is the likely candidate to be the next Clark Kent.
Its been reported that, “Warner Bros. has been mulling a completely different direction with its Superman canon for some time, even considering casting Michael B. Jordan in the role down the road.”
Interestingly enough this comes on the heels of what we learned just last week, that WarnerMedia, the studio’s parent company, had announced it had formed a partnership with the actor that is aimed at increasing the diversity and inclusion in front of and behind the camera.
Now if these rumors are true, then Jordan would be the first black Superman on screen. In the comics however, there is already a black Superman named Calvin Ellis who’s also the president of the United States on another Earth in an alternate universe.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point, and as we reported earlier today that Warner Bros. is focusing on the announced “Supergirl” movie, so only time will tell.
