If you have followed this blog or podcast for any length of time then you know I have not been the biggest fan of Spider-Man. As a matter of fact I have roasted the character and movies on more than one occasion, and I have not been very kind to Sony and the ability…..or rather their inability to do anything really spectacular with the Spider-Man franchise. That is until now, now that they have partnered with Marvel.
Now I must admit I am a Spider-Man convert. After seeing Spider-Man Homecoming two times on opening day, I think that it is safe to say that they hit this one out of the ball park. Tom Holland does a fantastic job of portraying what it would be like if a high school kid was suddenly thrust into the world of superheroes, something that has been lacking with the previous two incarnations of the character. From trying to figure out his balance between social life, school life and being the “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man”, a feat that Holland masters onscreen next to his co-stars.
If you have not seen Spider-Man homecoming, drop everything you are doing and head to the theater and catch a showing or two. You won’t be disappointed this time.
